From Fashion to Furniture "Spring Summer 2012"

The Spring/Summer 2012 runways seen throughout the world, from Paris to Newyork have showcased one very popular trend for this season, colour blocking. Like most things that follow the trends seen in fashion, furniture is doing the same. Now is the time to brighten up your interior with a spalsh of colour.

Chair designed by Alessandro Mendini
"Proust Geomteric"

Although designed in 1978 for the Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara, Proust was and still is immediately recognized as an icon of twentieth century design for its use of geometric colour blocking. One of the most renowned and essential reference points in the quest for form and aesthetic perfection. Cappellini inherited the piece in 1993 and today Proust Geometrica, reupholstered in a new cotton fabric by Alessandro Mendini and hand-finished according to tradition, preserves the forms of the original armchair while refreshing them and breathing new life into the image and value of the original design.
Chair designed by Marni

Marni is an Italian fashion label founded by Consuelo Castiglioni in 1994.  Renowned for its great color blocking on the runways, it is nice to see that same style applies to a line of 100 new chair designs. Designed and manufactured using metal and multi-colored PVC threads. Each one will be on display at The Milan Furniture Fair next month.

Shelving designed by Brave Space Design
"Tetrad Flat"

With wooden sides and a metal backing, the Tetris Flat is a modular lightweight unit. Blocks can be attached to one another, to the wall or left free standing as a divider for seperating open plan living spaces resembing a life sizes tetris game. But unfortunetly, the bottom line doesn’t disappear when you make that perfect configuration.
